Special Care Advocates In Dentistry President's Message

Greetings,

I am pleased to announce that the 2018 SAID Annual Seminar will take place in Nashville, Tennessee on October 25th and October 26th. Last night I returned home from a site visit in Nashville and I’m excited to tell you about our upcoming meeting.

Our meeting will take place at the Clarion Hotel Nashville Downtown – Stadium, which is located just one mile northeast of downtown Nashville. This is a hotel with history! The hotel was originally opened in 1970 by singer-songwriter Roger Miller. He named the hotel “King of the Road Motor Inn” after his famous song, King of the Road. On the top floor of the hotel was a club where musicians would perform, including Roger Miller and Ronnie Milsap. In 2014 the hotel underwent a major renovation and became the Clarion Hotel. The top floor was included in the renovation and is where our meeting will take place!

If you have a chance to extend your stay, there is so much to enjoy in Nashville. Downtown Nashville is a particularly vibrant and walkable area. It’s just a quick shuttle ride to downtown Nashville, which the hotel provides every half hour. There is live music everywhere, many restaurants and bars, and little shops sprinkled throughout (especially for boots). Downtown Nashville also boasts the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum as well as the Johnny Cash and Patsy Cline Museums. Nashville has many other wonderful venues for entertainment, including the famous Grand Ole Opry and the Ryman Auditorium. Nashville also has many fabulous parks, including Centennial Park, with jogging paths and a replica of the Parthenon, inside which is an art museum. Another art museum is the Frist Art Museum, with a focus on the visual arts and new exhibits every 6 to 8 weeks. The Frist Art Museum is just a few blocks from the main downtown area. Exhibits planned during October include artwork from Paris museums (“Paris 1900: City of Entertainment”) and contemporary art on domestic existence (“Do Ho Suh: Specimens”).

Look out for future announcements on our website regarding seminar speakers and schedule as well as hotel booking information. Also, if you are on Facebook, don’t forget to “like” our Facebook page for meeting updates (https://www.facebook.com/SpecialCareAdvocatesinDentistry/).

I’m looking forward to seeing you all at our meeting.

Take care,
